Donations
Since its founding in 1989, Eastside Legal Assistance Program has become a major player on the Eastside and throughout King County in the human services network.
Eastside attorneys, paralegals and community members have contributed
in
in excess of 20,000 volunteer hours while serving over 50,000 clients.
In 2008, ELAP served 1193 clients and expects to serve well over this number in 2009 as the need for legal aid is rapidly increasing.
Through grants, contracts and individual donations in 2008, ELAP was able to help 11 women living in long term homeless shelters move into their own apartments through the credit clearing work of ELAP volunteer attorneys. In addition, 112 clients were assisted by ELAP staff and volunteers in cases of domestic violence.
